Flower Girls and Ring Bearers

People have strong opinions about almost everything when it comes to weddings - nothing more than whether or not kids should be in the wedding ceremony. Some think that children should never be involved, while others think that there is nothing cuter than little flower girls and ring bearers prancing down the aisle. The important thing is to do whatever you feel is right.

If you would rather not have children in your bridal party, then that is totally fine! Don't let anyone pressure you into doing otherwise. If there are children in your life that are special to you, then honor them (and their parents) by inviting them to be part of the wedding.
If you do decide to have children in your ceremony, then remember two things:

1) Especially if your flower girl and/or ring bearers are under the age of 6 or so, consider having them walk down the aisle and then sit with a family member during the ceremony. Even if your ceremony is only 15 minutes long, that is still a pretty long time to expect someone so young to stand up in front of everyone and behave themselves.

2) Have someone designated to be in charge of watching the kids before, during, and after the ceremony. Family members or a trusted babysitter are usually good choices for this task. You and your bridesmaids are going to have a lot on your plate, so passing this job off to someone who can concentrate on the little cuties is a great plan.

If you do decide to have the kids join in, you just might get some adorable pictures.

Happy planning!

Fall Runway Bridal 2012

What girl doesn't like runway shows and being current if not forward when it comes to fashion trends??

With fashion trends for next season often done a year or two seasons in advanced its always a special moment when we the consumers are allowed that special teaser of what's to come.

Fall Runway Spotlight 2012 on:

Vera Wang & Monique Lhuillier

Vera Wang Channels "Darkness - Beauty - and Freedom" :

For me the verdict is still out on if I like black on the bride. But to each her own. For fall 2012 Vera has kept it oh so elegant with her Bridal silhouettes and color choices of what she calls "underwear colors". Below are some screen shots from Vera's bridal runway show. I may not like black for brides but the dresses are still amazing! Have a look at her linked youtube video also below and decide for yourself =)

Monique Lhuillier splurges on "lace - tulle - and slits":

I'm truly in love with many of the gowns presented in Monique Lhuillier's Fall 2012 Bridal collection. Her designs are modern, chic and versatile. Her selected fabrics are both curve hugging and somewhat dramatic. Indulge in her collection below....

Be inspired,

Crystal

Weddings to Celebrate: Kristin & Matt

When Kristin asked me to handle the day-of for her January wedding, I couldn't have been more excited. Why? Because Kristin is part of an adorable group of small-town girls who I have had the pleasure of working with. I've done day-of for several of her friends, and I LOVE being around them all. Little Nada, TX boasts some of the most charming, kind and FABULOUSLY FUN people you could ever have the pleasure of meeting. It's hard for me not to smile every time I think of them. And Kristin is no exception. Calm, collected, sweet and sincere ... being around Kristin is like drinking a glass of cool water on a hot summer day.

Here are a few of the amazing pictures my dear friend, Tyler Schmitt (of The Mill Photo Studio) captured that day. Tyler has been my partner-in-crime on all of this group's events, and I can't tell you how awesome he is to work with. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Working with him is like a paid vacation.

Kristin and Matt - I wish you both a lifetime of happiness! Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your special day. :-)

xoxo,

Weddings to Celebrate :: Caroline and Ravi, French Legation Museum

Caroline and Ravi are such a unique couple. They are actually already married, so the wedding was a special way they could celebrate with their family and friends. They wanted the day to have a French/New Orleans-y vibe, so the French Legation was the perfect spot. Even though this venue is in the heart of Austin's East side, directly across from downtown, you feel secluded and almost like you are celebrating at your family's home place. Caroline also wanted the food to reflect her Louisiana roots, and decided on gumbo shooters and profiteroles with andouille sausage for cockatil hour. It's hard to choose my favorite part, between their dog Jack participating (and chasing the French Legation's cat during the ceremony!), their sweet daughter Vivienne and the special moment they had with her during the ceremony, the Pedi-Cab as a get-away vehicle, or just the unabashed look of love between these two.
Caroline and Ravi, it was my pleasure to help your day run smoothly and I wish your family much happiness in the years to come!

Weddings To Celebrate :: Elizabeth and Matt, Laguna Gloria

I had the pleasure of being the "day of" wedding coordinator for Elizabeth and Matt at Laguna Gloria. Like most of our Austin clients, Elizabeth and Matt live out-of-state, so we met only once before their big weekend, and the majority of our collaboration was over the phone or email. These two are genuinely good people, and it was such an honor to help them enjoy their day.

Elizabeth and Matt - congratulations! Thank you for trusting me with the details of your celebration. I enjoyed getting to know you a bit, and look forward to Facebook updates. :) If anyone captured video of the special song your friends composed/performed for you, I'd love to see it! That was an impressive performance!

Best,
jessica
