This morning, lightening struck one of our favorite Austin wedding venues, The Artisan Ballroom at Barr Mansion. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family business and staff, as well as the clients now left without a wedding venue.
UPDATE! Gotta love Austin. Austin wedding vendors have rallied and Barr Mansion has some excellent contingency plans in place. Brides and grooms will be able to enjoy the gorgeous grounds and historic mansion with the help of air-conditioned tents complete with chandeliers. Talk about an answered prayer, especially for this weekend's weddings! Talk to the good people at Barr Mansion about arrangements for your wedding.

Do you know of any couples who had planned an up-comming wedding at the Barr Mansion?
My daughter, 10 days from now. Waiting on Barr Mansion's contingency plan before shopping for another venue. I don't want to be smelling the remains of a fire during the ceremony and reception.
Robert, I'm sure that Barr Mansion will do everything humanly possible to ensure a beautiful wedding for your daughter. They were GREAT with my wedding, even with surprising weather. Also, much of the grounds are undamaged. Check out these pictures of much of the damage covered by landscaping, and the historic mansion in perfect condition: http://www.erichegwer.com/wedding-stuff/austin-weddings/barr-mansion-fire
I was not questioning Barr Mansion's intentions, integrity, or desire to make things "right". I am waiting to see before looking around. Sometimes the best intentions and effort come up short. As they say, "Rome wasn't built in a day".
There is no question that we will rebuild - and quickly. Our clients are our first priority: we are working to ensure that every client's wedding is as perfect as we all originally intended.
We are setting up a BEAUTIFUL, top-of-the-line, air-conditioned structure tent. It barely even looks like a tent really—almost like a building. It will have draped fabric, chandeliers and professional lighting. It will be gorgeous.
The grounds were left in perfect condition, it was ONLY the ballroom that was affected. The debris is almost completely hauled off as of 6:00 on Wednesday evening.
We have built our business over the past thirty years with passion, dedication and caring commitment to our community. During this short interim, we are operating successfully as we always have in the last twenty year.
Our original barn craftsmen, Homestead Heritage, plan to have a new, reclaimed frame raised within a matter of weeks.
Thank you to those who have shared your best thoughts, kind words, working hands and friendship in support of us. The weddings at Barr Mansion will go on!
SO glad to hear Barr is proceding with "business as usual." It's a great group of people and a fabulous venue! Much love to Rick, Abby, and the entire Barr team.
